Dude! What's going on

Man, I have and will be raking up the mileage in the next week or so. I did a weekend trip up North and did some wardriving. Well, more like leaving the laptop running while I drove. I had some issues with my $20 GPS and lost about 200 AP's in which it didn't capture the Lat/Long. I'll post some maps as soon as I can. That was a 650Km trip. This upcoming weekend I'm going North once again, that will be another 700+Km Trip. I'll have the rig running that trip as well.. Over all, I'm not sure how many AP's I found, haven't bothered to look at the files.

In October, I hope to head on a 10 hr drive to Maryland from Toronto, hope to have it going on that trip. That'll be my longest wardriving drive yet :) Should be interesting to see how many I find.

One a side note, I thought this was just so freaking cool, but you gotta know it's not going to last long.

Just same old

Well summer is almost over, well I should say the summer that wasn't. At least not here in the Toronto area. Hot hasn't been the word I would describe this summer that's for sure.

As for what I have been up to in one simple word, NADA(nothing). Just spending time with the family. No wardriving....

But it's not all lost. I'm currently just about to fire up my HSMM station, HSMM is a project for Ham Radio operators where they are trying to setup a 'private' Internet network for ham radio use. One thing most people don't realize is that everyone out there with Wifi or cordless phone or baby monitors are all secondary users, they are all sharing the spectrum. Ham radio operators have primary use of that portion of the frequency spectrum. So in other words, a ham operator can run up to 1500 watts on none spread spectrum frequencies on 2.4Ghz and 100 Watts on spread spectrum frequencies. Just don't stand in front of any directional antenna with that much power kicking out. The first 6 channels are within the Ham Radio band. I will rewrite all the details as to what it's all about or not, just have a visit at: Next Big Thing and High Speed Multimedia Radio

So back to what I'm doing. I was able to grab two 21dbi antennas and 2 cheapish access point(I'll posts pictures soon, hope this week as I put it all together) and a few connectors. I'll be mounting this whole setup up on my antenna tower. Run one line of CAT5 up to the tower and run POE. The reason for having the Access Point up on the tower is simple. Running high grade coax up a tower to a antenna is expensive and no efficient, since the low RF power out of a access point is so low that by the time it gets to the antenna there would be next to no RF Power at the antenna. So having the AP right at the antenna, then all of the power out of the AP will go into the antenna.

Ok now for some stuff:

I know there were others, but for the life of me, I can't remember the others I was planning on posting.
